This FAQ is to help explain the available RSS feeds in a Plato web.

What is RSS?
RSS, Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary, is a simple way to automatically pull in information from a Plato site across the Web. RSS is an XML-based (eXtensible Markup Language) format for content distribution that can include headlines, summaries and links.

What RSS feeds are available in a Plato Web?

The following RSS feeds are available in all Plato Webs. There is a combined site feed, and individual feeds for News, Events and Documents respectively. Note that presence of actual content depends on the actual project. The RSS feeds are available for each access level within a Plato Web, you will only see the documents available for the level of access. If you want to view a feed in your RSS reader then you can right click the button, copy the shortcut and paste that into your reader.

Combined Site Summary Feed
This carries a combined summary feed of the 50 most recent items for a Plato site drawn from all the categories described below. An RSS icon from which you can copy the link to your RSS reader is usually available next to the breadcrumbs at the top of a Plato page.
Documents
This carries a feed of the Recent Documents for the level you have access to. An RSS icon for this feed is available within the Document Register pane.
Review Documents This carries a feed of the Recent Documents for the level you have access to. An RSS icon for this feed is available within the Review Document Register pane.
Events
This carries a feed of the Events Calendar for the level you have access to. An RSS icon for this feed is available within the Events Calendar pane.
Polls
This carries a feed of the Polls for the level you have access to. An RSS icon for this feed is available within the Polls pane.
Actions
This carries a feed of the Actions for the level you have access to. An RSS icon for this feed is available within the Actions pane.
News Items
This carries a feed of Recent News items for the level you have access to. An RSS icon for this feed is available within the News pane.
Glossary
This carries a feed of the Glossary for the level you have access to. An RSS icon for this feed is available within the Glossary pane.

RSS feeds for Mail Archives

Within the Mailing Lists page, RSS feeds are available for lists that you are entitled to view. These feeds provide recent email for each available mailinglist.

RSS feeds covering all Plato Webs

  The Open Group Plato Newsdesk
The Plato Newsdesk carries public news headlines from all the various ongoing work areas within The Open Group and its affiliates that use the Plato web collaboration tool. News headlines published at the public level can automatically appear in this RSS feed if selected by the site maintainer for a site.

What is an RSS Reader?
An RSS Reader (also known as an RSS aggregator or News Reader) is software which enables you to get the latest news headlines, in RSS format, delivered straight to your desktop. Some RSS Readers also allow you to set up watches or filters so you only see the news you want to see.

Where can I get an RSS Reader?
There are a wide range of RSS Readers available for most operating systems. Visit Google to find links to the most popular products. Among the popular RSS readers are Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird, and Awasu.

How do I view an RSS feed?
You can view the raw feeds by clicking each button. If you want to view the feed in your reader then you can right click the button, copy the shortcut and paste that into your RSS reader.
